We use the most advanced techniques at our outpatient cosmetic surgery suite in Birmingham, Alabama to rejuvenate your appearance with a number of options for face surgery.
Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
Our renowned plastic surgeons have achieved remarkable results with Nose Surgery at our Birmingham, Alabama practice, an extremely popular procedure also known as Rhinoplasty and Nose Reshaping. Their satisfied patients know that while having a too-large or misshapen nose is a very common complaint, there's a solution.
Rhinoplasty can give you the smaller, more proportionate nose by correcting crookedness, damage from injuries, too-large nostrils and other problems. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of the nose, change the shape of the tip, narrow the width of the nostrils or change the angle between the nose and the upper lip.
During the nose surgery procedure, discreet incisions are made around the nostrils and excess cartilage is removed, as is any unwanted bump. Internal nasal surgery to improve nasal breathing can be performed at the time. Side effects of rhinoplasty, including swelling, bruising and general discomfort, should subside within 4 weeks.
Nose Reshaping Cost: $4,500 plus nominal facility fee
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Eyelid Surgery, or Blepharoplasty, is a very popular way to restore a youthful look to your eyes, one of your face's most observed features. Drooping or sagging eyelids can add years to one's face, making you look much older or more tired than you really are.
Eyelid surgery at our Birmingham, Alabama practice can virtually reverse these signs of aging, firming the skin around the eyes and restoring your natural, youthful beauty. Blepharoplasty is also used to improve vision in older patients who have experienced hooding of the upper eyelids.
During the blepharoplasty procedure, extra fat, muscle and tissue are trimmed away and the delicate skin surrounding the eye is tightened, smoothing away wrinkles and eliminating sagging. Eyelid surgery is performed under anesthesia and takes up to 2 hours to complete. Side effects of eyelid surgery include dry eyes, swelling, soreness, bruising and sensitivity to light.
The forehead and eyebrow region often show noticeable signs of aging. Looseness in these structures may cause drooping eyebrows, eyelid hooding, forehead furrows and frown lines. A popular procedure to restore your youthful beauty at our Alabama practice is a Brow Lift, also called a Forehead Lift. Using this procedure, the structures are tightened or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the upper eyebrows and improve frown lines.
A brow lift can be performed using the "classic" technique that involves a continuous incision made behind the hairline or using a newer endoscopic technique that results in less scarring. The endoscope is carefully inserted under the skin and used to lift and tighten the skin and underlying muscles.
The face tends to show age much more quickly than some other parts of the body. A Mid-Facelift can help reverse the effects of sun damage, aging and changes in weight that cause the skin on the face to wrinkle, sag and stretch. Mid-facelift is a great way to take years off your face. Results are natural-looking and no one even has to know!
During a facelift, tiny incisions are made along the hairline and lower eyelid. Excess skin, tissue and fat are removed and the tissues lying just beneath the eyelid are repositioned, lifting the corners of the mouth and redefining surrounding features. Side effects of a facelift, including swelling, bruising and general discomfort, typically subside within 2 weeks.
Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. William Hedden and our plastic surgeons and staff are experienced in the Endoscopic Subperiosteal Facelift. Less intrusive than a traditional facelift, this procedure achieves results with minimal side effects at our cosmetic surgery center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Often performed in conjunction with a Facelift or Neck Liposuction, a Neck Lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to remove sagging, drooping skin from the neck. During a neck lift, excess skin, fat and tissue are trimmed away, eliminating wrinkles and folds of extra skin. The remaining skin is stretched and smoothed, resulting in a more aesthetic and youthful appearance.
Neck Lift Using Suture Suspension
The "turkey gobbler" is one of the most dreaded signs of aging. Dr. Hedden and Dr. Gunn offer several solutions for this unsightly imperfection, including the safe and effective Suture Suspension Neck Lift. During this hour-long procedure, tiny incisions are made behind the ears and beneath the chin, and extra tissue is removed. The remaining skin is tightened and smoothed, leaving a taut neck with no hint of a turkey gobbler.
Neck Liposuction is an excellent way to get rid of any extra fat in the neck. This procedure makes the face look much more streamlined and reduces the effects of aging. During neck liposuction, a thin, hollow tube (called a cannula) is used to gently suction out extra fat and tissue, removing deposits that cause drooping and sagging. Once swelling and bruising subside, you will notice long-lasting results.
A strong, well-shaped chin and defined cheek bones have long been considered signs of confidence and desirable facial features. Facial Implants made of soft, FDA-approved silicone restore smooth, round contours to the face and create a balanced, proportional appearance to the cheek, chin, jawline and nose. Chin Implants, Cheek Implants, Jaw Implants and Nasal Implants can be used alone or in conjunction with other procedures for a more complete rejuvenation.
Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Protruding or exceptionally large ears are enough to make anyone feel insecure or embarrassed about their appearance. Ear Surgery, or Otoplasty, is a permanent solution to this problem. Otoplasty is also used to reconstruct damaged ears.
During otoplasty, incisions are made behind the ear and extra cartilage is discarded. The ears are then gently pulled back into their correct position, sutured and left to heal. The ears are permanently positioned closer to the head with surgical scars hidden behind the ear or within the ear's natural creases.
Full, sensual lips can make anyone feel more attractive. Even if you weren't born with a plump pout, one can still be yours at Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery.
The most common method of Lip Enhancement at our Birmingham, Alabama cosmetic center is with injectable Dermal Fillers. Many popular filler brands are available for adding lip volume and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Dermal fillers that contain hyaluronic acid are well suited to lip enhancement treatments with Dr. William Hedden and Dr. Stephen Gunn that allow the lips to retain their soft and natural feel.
