What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is the dimpled skin that frequently develops on the buttocks and thighs, but can also be found on other areas of the body. Many of us watch what we eat and spend countless hours exercising, only to see the orange peel or cottage cheese texture of our cellulite remain undiminished.

If you are concerned about cellulite that refuses to go away, you're not alone. Up to 90% of women are faced with cellulite at some point in their lives.

A Harris Poll conducted in 2020 found that roughly half of women (49%) were very bothered by their cellulite, and more than three-quarters (77%) wish they knew more about treatment options that target cellulite's root causes.

Cellulite is caused when fat cells build up beneath the skin and fibrous bands create tension that pulls the fat up, causing the skin to appear lumpy or uneven. Genetics, hormones and lifestyle factors all play a part, but cellulite can occur even in women who are very fit and active.

QWO is the first injectable FDA-approved to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The enzymes found in QWO, known as "collagenases," are believed to target cellulite by releasing the fibrous bands, redistributing fat cells and stimulating the growth of new collagen.

QWO is injected with a small needle directly into targeted dimples in the buttocks. Injections at our Birmingham, AL cosmetic center take as little as 10 minutes. Clinical trials reported that patients required no post-treatment downtime.

Visible results with QWO cellulite buster may be achieved in 10 weeks. If QWO is determined to be right for you, we will decide on a treatment plan that includes the total number of treatments. Each treatment visit may include up to two treatment areas; injections will be given 21 days apart for three treatment visits.
