The Transaxillary Breast Augmentation incision (also called the transax or armpit incision) for breast augmentation uses an incision made within the natural folds of skin in the armpit or underarm. This method of placing breast implants does not leave any scars on the breasts. The scar left from the incision made in the armpit is very small and almost impossible to see.

Patients who want to enlarge and reshape their bustline without scarring on the breast area often choose Breast Augmentation using the transaxillary or armpit incision. During the transaxillary procedure at Hedden Plastic Surgery, Dr. Hedden or Dr. Schaffer makes the incision in the fold of the armpit and a channel is created to the breasts. Saline breast implants are then inserted through the channel and placed behind the breasts. Once the implants are in place, they are filled with a sterile saline solution to enhance the size and contour of the breasts.
