Dr. Stefani Fontana has joined Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery as our Aesthetic Surgery Fellow for 2023-2024. Dr. Fontana brings to our practice a strong foundation in aesthetic surgery and a sincere enthusiasm for embracing the needs and desires of her patients.
With expertise honed at some of the nation's leading institutions for medical education, Dr. Fontana's level of training is second to none. She is excited to train alongside our esteemed plastic surgeons in Birmingham, AL to further her already impressive skills in performing plastic surgeries and cosmetic treatments.
Aesthetic Fellowship at Hedden & Gunn
As the recipient of our 2023-2024 Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship, Dr. Stefani Fontana is ready to learn new methods to enhance, restore and rejuvenate your appearance. Dr. Fontana was awarded this prestigious appointment for her demonstrated commitment to excellence in plastic surgery during years of rigorous education and clinical training.
The Hedden & Gunn Plastic Surgery Aesthetic Fellowship, which is endorsed by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, focuses on the full scope of aesthetic surgery. This includes exposure to more than 2,800 aesthetic cases per year, from surgery to post-op management. Dr. Fontana will receive training and experience in all types of injectables, laser treatments, skin care options and ultrasound.
Education & Training
Dr. Stefani Fontana graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Her top-tier education continued at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore in the laboratory of Dr. Hal Dietz, culminating in a PhD in Human and Molecular Genetics. Dr. Fontana then earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Most recently, she completed her plastic surgery residency at the internationally renowned Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
Dr. Fontana is a member of the American Medical Association and a resident member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Fontana has authored numerous publications and presentations on a wide variety of medical and healthcare topics. She has also earned a number of honors and awards, including recognition as Chief Resident during her residency in plastic surgery.
