How is the browlift procedure preformed?

A tiny fiberoptic lens inserted through small incisions in the hairline. The lens is attached to a camera, which is connected to a television, allowing the surgeon to visualized the surgery. Tiny instruments can then be inserted through the incisions, allowing the surgeon to modify the muscles and achieve the proper brow position.

Tthe removal of excess skin is not required with an endoscopic browlift. Also, the loss of sensation or hair at the incision site is minimized. A browlift can significantly reduce frown lines between the eyes, so it is often performed in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a facelift or eyelid surgery to achieve optimal results.

What will I look and feel like afterward?

There is a minimal amount of discomfort following a browlift. There can be some swelling and bruising that may last 7 to 10 days. For some patients the swelling and bruising can affect the cheeks and eyelids. Resting with the head elevated and applying cold compresses will help alleviate these conditions.

As the incisions heal, you may notice some itching and possibly some numbness. These symptoms will diminish over time. You may resume light activity within the first week and begin to wear makeup after 3 days. The sutures will be removed in 7 to 10 days. Strenuous activity should be restricted for 6 weeks.

Will I have to be in the hospital?

Depending on your health and the doctor's preference, the procedure can be performed as an outpatient service or in a hospital setting. Anesthesia for a browlift commonly consists of local anesthesia with intravenous sedation. In some cases, the surgeon may decide that general anesthesia is a better choice.
