Julia's Story
My name is Julia and I am a 33 year old mother of two. After the birth of my second child, my breasts became
deflated and saggy. I had contemplated having implants for a couple of years. I finally decided that every
man has his hobby (and they are expensive) so I decided to splurge on me and schedule my surgery.
I never felt any anxiety about the surgery. I really felt the procedure had been around long enough (about
30 years) and is fine tuned. I was already a C cup prior to surgery, but needed the fullness and perkiness
back. I decided to go to a full D cup.
My surgery was scheduled on a Saturday at 2:00. My husband and I arrived at 1:00 - an hour prior to my surgery
time. My husband waited in the lobby while I went back and got ready for "the new me". Dr. Hedden came in
and marked the size right on my breasts to be sure there were no mistakes, then the nurse began to administer
the IV for the anesthesia. They rolled me to the surgical room and asked if I had any questions before I
went to sleep for the surgery.
When I woke up from the surgery I was freezing. I felt a lot of pressure, like an elephant was sitting on
my chest. The nurse gave me a nice warm blanket and helped me put on the sports bra and my terry cloth jacket.
She then wheeled me down in a wheelchair to the lobby where my husband was waiting. My surgery was at 2:00
and we left the office around 3:45.
When I got home I started taking the prescriptions, which consisted of an antibiotic, a muscle relaxer,
and a pain pill. I took these like clockwork the first 24 hours and slept most of the time. I had to have
help sitting up in the bed, because you can not put any strain on the arm muscle which must be connected
to the chest muscles. The next day I got out of the bed and walked to the couch. I could move around really
well. I had learned with two previous C-sections that the sooner you move around the better you feel. Even
though I made myself move around I was careful not to pick up anything or strain my arm or chest muscles.
By the third day I would say I was back to 95% which really surprised me. On Tuesday I drove my children
to the movies. The surgery and recovery was a lot easier than I had ever anticipated. It definitely was worth
what little pain I had, and worth every cent I paid.
If you have ever had children, you know what that does to your breasts! It is worth it all when you put
on your bathing suit or bra and you don't have a puddle in the bottom of your cup. I would do it again in
a minute. I would recommend it to anyone who has ever contemplated the surgery.
