Okay, to start my story, I am going to start off by telling you all, before my surgery I was a 34A. I
am 5'4 and I weigh about 130lbs. I decided to go with 425cc's and so far so good.
I have been wanting to get my breasts done for about 4 years now which means I was 14 when I first
started thinking about it. Of course, then I thought I would have to walk through fire to be able to get
that done. But, when I got my job I was able to save my money -- which is an act of congress for me --
but I did. That's when I started the vigorous process of illumination between board certified plastic
surgeons. (ALWAYS go with board certified, I heard this horrific story the other day of general surgeons
taking a weekend course on plastic surgery and then performing actual plastic surgeries on patients. We
all desire a surgeon who is performing in the best interest of us, the patient. Not revenue.) So while I
was at work I googled "plastic surgeons in AL" -- be more specific -- that's where I found about 4
surgeons that I was interested in and had jotted the phone numbers down. But, the real test is when you
start looking at the before and after pictures is when you really get a feel as to how talented the
surgeon actually is, and when I saw Dr. Hedden's work I knew that he was my surgeon. Some of you may want
to take the time to consult with a few different surgeons and get comfortable. That is fine. But I advise
you not to go with a surgeon that charges for the first consultation. That should be absolutely
complimentary. Also, if they charge it goes back to the revenue thing.
Anyways, so I decided to call and make a consultation with Dr. Hedden. The staff there is so nice. They
don't care how many times you call, well they might actually care but they don't let you know that, and
they make you feel right at home. They know everything, and if they can't answer one of your questions
they go out of their way to find the answer for you. When I arrived for my consultation I was extremely
nervous. I was very self conscious of my breasts and showing them to people so I just knew this
experience was going to be great. But it really was! Right when I got to Hedden Plastic Surgery I had to
feel out some paper work and then I got called right back to a room where a nurse was waiting on me. She
asked me about my incision choice and asked me if I kew what size yet, I told her around a full C and she
gave me some options on what size would get me there. She went over the incision procedures and then gave
me some time so I could try on the sizers. Which I did for awhile..and I decided on 390cc's. Dr. Hedden
came in and talked to me for a bit, he was very calming and softspoken and extremely professional. He
asked which size I decided on and I told him 390cc's and he told em he thought that was a good choice
but I could go bigger if I wanted too. Well that got my wheels to turning. By the end of my consultation
I had paid the majority of my surgery and scheduled it and scheduled my history and physical appointment
2 weeks before my surgery. It was the beginning of November and I didn't schedule my surgery until
December 1. So I had a whole month I had to wait. I will go ahead and notify you, it was the longest
month of my life. I looked at Dr. Hedden's before and after pictures over 50 times. I made the rice
sizers at home and tried them on religously. Everyone thought I was going insane.
Finally, the day of my surgery came and boy was I nervous. My surgery was scheduled for 8am but I had
to be there at 6:30am. When I got there I didn't sit down in the waiting room good enough before I was
being called back. I had to give them a urine sample for a pregnancy test and they brought me to this
small room and I had to take everything off except my panties and socks. They asked me if I wanted to
change my size and I told them yes I wanted to go to 425cc's. They gave me a heated blanket and a little
towel like thing with a velcro fastener on it to put around me. The CRNA came and in and went over what
he would be doing during the surgery and he started my IV. Then Dr. Hedden came in and he was the one
who really calmed me down, he assured me everything would be fine and he made a few markings on my breast
and then left me and my mom there to wait. About 10 minutes later the CRNA came back in the room and
told me it was time. He gave me a medicine called Verset and I don't know if that's how it is spelled,
but it makes you not care anymore, I do know that much. He grabbed my blanket and pretty much carried
me to the surgery room, I was trying to act like the medicine didn't affect me, because I didn't wanna
sound loopy but I think he knew it was because he practically carried me to the surgery room. When I got
to the surgery room he helped me up on the table and gave me a few more heated blankets because I was
freezing and he put a mask over my nose and mouth and told me to breath. That's the last I rememeber of
the surgery room. Because when I woke up I woke up in a recovery room. Freezing, this is a
reaction to the anesthesia. When I woke up there was a nurse there with me, she was so sweet. She asked
me how I was doing and if I needed anything and I told her I was fine. After about 10 minutes she helped
me get dressed and wheeled me out to the car. I was in pain, I'm not going to lie and say everything
went smooth sailing as far as that goes. I've had problem with Lortab in the past so I was prescribed
Tylenol 3, valium, phenergan, and z pack. I hurt the first 24 hours. I couldn't find anywhere comfortable.
My back, breasts, and arms were hurting tremendously. But finally it eased up on the 2nd day and I went
to my follow up appointment. Dr. Hedden was wonderful. He said everything looked good and to see me back
in 4 weeks. I am going on a week since my surgery. I have beautiful breasts now and I can't stop looking
at them. They are riding a little high but that is to be expected. They should be dropping to their
natural place here soon and I can't wait to go buy all new bras and new swim suits!!!
Dr. Hedden is a wonderful wonderful plastic surgeon. He is very talented and I will recommend him to
anyone that comes my way that is looking to get work done. The process is alot simpler than most make it
seem. Yes, there was a little pain for me but I will definitely say it was absolutely worth every minute
of it. Thank you Dr. Hedden.
